Indian patient receiving gua sha at Dr. Kataria Health
What it is

A technique selected for the individual.

Clinical gua sha is a manual technique used over muscles and fascia. Temporary redness or small pinpoint marks may occur because of superficial tissue pressure. Intensity is adjusted to comfort and the technique is integrated only when appropriate.

Safety first
Gua sha is not performed over wounds, infection, sunburn, active rash or recent surgery. Anticoagulants, bleeding disorders and fragile skin require caution. Forceful scraping and deliberate bruising are not treatment goals.
What to expect

A calm, supervised session.

Assessment of pain, movement and skin condition
Application of a suitable lubricant
Controlled strokes over a defined treatment area
Skin check, hydration and aftercare guidance
When it may be considered

Supportive uses after assessment.

Neck and shoulder muscle tension
Restricted movement linked with soft-tissue tightness
Selected back-pain presentations
Adjunctive recovery and mobility care

Not every modality is right for every patient.

A consultation determines clinical suitability, treatment combination and expected review points. Results vary.
